Summary: We stayed for eleven nights, with my son’s family joining us for part of the time. Our two grandchildren (ages 7 and 10) especially loved the house’s peaceful waterside location. Each day they couldn’t wait to check the crab traps to see what they might have caught. They also really enjoyed fishing and watching the shrimp boats and barges going past the house. Day trips from the house were typically 30 minutes or less. We would highly recommend the Cajun Encounters swamp tour—even the adults who were initially reluctant to go had a fabulous time. We visited New Orleans a number of times and spent a lot of time at City Park. They have a lovely branch of Cafe du Monde there, which is just as wonderful as the busy original near Jackson Square, but much more relaxing. Also, if you are traveling with a dog, consider buying a short term pass for NOLA City Bark, which is available for purchase online. It’s also located in City Park, and is without a doubt the largest and prettiest dog park we have ever visited. Henry and Petra were wonderful hosts and quickly responded to any questions we had about the house and the area. We all had a great time and would not hesitate to stay again if we get the chance!
